Pollockesque

The WordPress theme that Chris and I are working on is getting pretty close to completion. It was in need of some header artwork—I can’t really include the fish with it, for obvious reasons—so today I decided to follow in the footsteps of Jackson Pollock, and throw paint at a canvas.

My plans laid, I headed down to the local art shop to buy paint, cartridge paper and paintbrushes. This set me back a not insignificant amount of money; I may have to get back into painting to offset the cost.

The painting itself—if you can call it that—was very freeing. I spread newspaper across my bedroom floor, watered down some paint on a piece of cardboard, and started flicking it across the paper. Getting the paint to leave the brush is harder than you might think—you need to thrash your arm quite hard! Still, I haven’t had that much fun for quite some time.

I’ve just acquired a scanner—a Canon 8400F—so hopefully this won’t be the last bit of art I digitise. In the meantime, enjoy my amateurish splatters. A more refined—or at any rate, better cropped—version will be gracing the new theme.

Very cool. Can’t wait to see that theme.

This theme is gonna be awesome. I can tell… :-D

I’d certainly like to see some more artwork from you.

Can’t waste that GCSE after all…

Heh.

Ironically, this reminds me of our development methods. ;-)
